After joining the L-Mount Alliance at the end of 2025, Viltrox unveils its first L-mount lens, the Viltrox AF 16mm f/1.8 L, a wide-angle fixed focal length lens already available in Sony E-mount and Nikon Z-mount.
The first lens in a long series of L-mount lenses?
Six months after joining the L-Mount Alliance (September 2025), Viltrox launches its first lens for the L-mount: the AF 16mm f/1.8 L.
Already available in Sony E (2023) and Nikon Z (2024) mounts, this bright wide-angle lens is now available in the brand’s L-mount catalog. This lens will be of great interest to enthusiasts of landscape, architectural, and astrophotography, as well as vloggers.
If it was necessary to start with one lens, it is surprising that Viltrox did not begin its presence on the L mount with a more ambitious lens, such as its AF 35mm f/1.2 LAB or its AF 135mm f/1.8 LAB.
Perhaps this is the result of intense negotiations between the various members of the alliance (as a reminder, the L-Mount Alliance includes several manufacturers, including Sigma, Panasonic, and Leica). Let’s hope, however, that other Viltrox lenses will soon be available in L-mount.
