Nik Collection 8.1: DxO fine-tunes its suite and gives PhotoLab and ViewPoint for free

Two months after the launch of Nik Collection 8, DxO rolls out a minor update for its photo plug-ins. Version 8.1 improves stability and corrects a few points, without bringing any major new features. At the same time, DxO is offering a summer deal: until July 27, 2025, every purchase or update of the suite entitles you to DxO PhotoLab 8 Essential Edition or DxO ViewPoint 5, free of charge.

Silver Efex fixes and experience improvements

With Nik Collection 8.1, DxO has mainly introduced improvements in comfort and reliability, in response to user feedback, according to the publisher. In Silver Efex, it is now possible to directly compare the black and white image being processed with the original color version, facilitating the adjustment of renderings.

DxO also indicates that it has worked on the general stability of plugins and on speed of execution, with several small patches.

Launched last May, Nik Collection 8 had mainly improved integration with Photoshop. It introduced a new workflow for using Photoshop masks in plugins, as well as the ability to transfer these masks between plugins without recreating them.
