DJI teases Osmo 360, its all-in-one 360 camera

After drones and stabilizers, DJI is venturing into the field of 360° video with theOsmo 360. This camera with its novel square sensors will be officially unveiled on July 31, and could reshuffle the cards in a market hitherto dominated by Insta360.

On July 24, 2025, DJI released a short teaser confirming the arrival of its first 360 camera, the Osmo 360. The video reveals only a silhouette with two lenses and the words “All In One”, as well as the launch date, set for July 31 at 2 p.m. (French time). With this simple announcement, DJI is showing that it wants to compete with Insta360 in a field where the brand has until now reigned unchallenged.

1 inch square sensor ?

Analysis of the video shows that DJI is presenting a square sensor positioned behind the optics. Leaked video confirms that this is a 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensor, with each side measuring around 4,000 pixels.

DJI thus seems to be banking on an unprecedented geometry for a 360° camera, whereas most models on the market still rely on rectangular sensors.

This technical choice has a clear advantage: while a fisheye lens projects a circular image, a rectangle sensor always leaves unused areas, with a loss of effective pixels. With a square sensor, the entire surface is actually used for the image.

Technical details: according to rumors

For the moment, no further information has been shared by DJI. However, the leaked specifications are very interesting:

  • 8K video capture at 30 fps in 360° mode
  • 120 MP photos
  • 10-bit color profile D-Log M
  • single-lens mode capable of shooting in 4K at 120 fps or 5K at 60 fps.
  • 100-minute autonomy at the highest definition, a record for this type of device.

We’ll just have to wait a few more days to discover the official technical specifications of this next 360 camera, which looks promising for immersive video.
