GoPro has just unveiled the Hero13 Black Ultra Wide Edition, a version of its action camera designed for ultra-immersive shooting. From the outset, this special edition features the Ultra Wide Lens Mod, offering a 177° field of view – 36% wider and 48% higher than the standard lens.

In addition to the ultra-wide-angle lens, this GoPro relies on HyperSmooth 6.0 stabilization to ensure smooth images, even in 4K at 60 fps, while Horizon Lock mode keeps the horizon stable during 360° rotations.

When this ultra-wide-angle Mod is mounted on the camera, a new 1:1 square recording format enables easy cropping in post-production, suitable for both vertical formats (9:16) and wide screens (16:9). We don’t know whether this new feature will be offered to other GoPro Hero13 Black cameras via a firmware update.
The new Hero13 Black Ultra Wide Edition is available for €509.99 from the GoPro website and specialist retailers. This kit is also available with the standard lens protector.

By way of comparison, the GoPro Ultra Wide-Angle Mod is sold separately for €109, while the GoPro Hero13 Black is priced at €449.
