The Osmo Pocket 3, DJI’s pocket-sized stabilized camera with a 1″ sensor, has recently received a major firmware update (version v01.06.08.04). It brings a number of features that considerably enhance the video creation experience.

New 2x lossless telephoto zoom mode
One of the main new features of this update is the addition of a Med-Tele mode, offering 2x zoom with an equivalent focal length of 40 mm, while retaining 4K definition.

Unlike standard digital zoom, this mode is designed to preserve image quality and detail. However, this mode has a few limitations: a maximum ISO of 1600, incompatibility with the ActiveTrack tracking function or the D-Log M and HLG color profiles.
Focus breathing compensation
The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 also gains a focus breathing compensation function , similar to that offered by Sony on its recent hybrid bodies.
This feature improves focus transitions for more cinematic rendering, avoiding field-of-view variations when changing MAP between a close subject and the background.
D-Log in webcam mode
In addition to these features, the DJI update now includes D-Log M (10-bit) in webcam mode.

The DJI Mimo companion application also gains an interesting little option on mobile: it now lets you take video screenshots and save them as classic photos or animated photos (Live Photos at Apple) in your library.
In 2025, still the best pocket camera?
Unveiled at the end of 2023, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 improves substantially with this update, strengthening the appeal of this pocket-sized, stabilized 4K camera capable of professional video footage.
The update is available free of charge via the DJI Mimo application. As a reminder, the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is priced at $619 for the single pack and $799 for the Creator Combo including accessories and a DJI Mic 2.
