Insta360 has just unveiled the Xplorer Ace Pro 2 pack, which enhances its action cam with a metal cage designed with Tilta. The aim? Transform the action camera into a truly compact still camera.

A Tilta cage to reinvent the action cam
Insta360 is riding the rebirth of the compact camera with the unveiling of an accessory that transforms its 8K action cam into a camera dedicated to street photography.

Collaboration with Tilta has resulted in a dark gray metal grip/cage. This kit gives the camera a point-and-shoot ergonomic feel, enhancing its grip and creative possibilities.

The accessory provides complete protection thanks to its multifunctional metal frame. Equipped with three versatile mounting points (1/4″, quick-release and accessory holder), it lets you add accessories such as a microphone or lights. A wrist strap secures the unit.

The official visuals clearly reveal Insta360’s intention to reproduce the experience of a classic camera.
The top of the cage acts as a trigger, directly activating the Insta360 Ace Pro 2’s recording button.

Insta360 Ace Pro 2 technical specifications
The camera features a 1/1.3″ 50 MP sensor and a Leica SUMMARIT 13 mm f/2.6 lens covering a 157° field of view. The“MegaView” mode exploits the 50 MP while reducing wide-angle distortion, ideal for landscape and immersive photography. Insta360 also relies on Leica color profiles.
The action cam shoots in 8K at 30 fps and 4K at 120 fps, offering various modes such as slow motion and timelapse. FlowState stabilization ensures perfectly fluid sequences, while the dual AI chip optimizes stabilization and autofocus.
The camera operates between -20°C and 45°C, is water-resistant up to 12 m without housing, and features a 2.5″ tilting touchscreen for framing.
Prices and availability
The Insta360 Ace Pro 2 Xplorer kit is available for €529 from the online store.
The pack includes the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 camera, battery, standard bracket, grip, wrist strap and various accessories. Note that the cage does not appear to be sold separately at present.

Our opinion
Insta360’s initiative is a pertinent one. By transforming its action cam into a compact camera with this ergonomic grip, the brand significantly expands the possible uses of its camera. The Tilta grip, with its sturdy construction, not only improves grip but also provides ergonomics reminiscent of traditional cameras, notably by integrating a physical shutter release in the cage.

This accessory enables the Ace Pro 2 to establish itself as a versatile tool, suitable for both everyday photography and action videos, despite the constraints associated with its very wide-angle lens.
