Sirui joins the L-Mount Alliance and prepares an AF 85 mm f/1.4 Aurora L-mount version

The L-Mount alliance, founded in 2018 by Sigma, Leica and Panasonic, welcomes a new member: Sirui. The Chinese optician has overtaken Viltrox and will soon be offering autofocus lenses for this mount. The first model to be announced is the AF 85 mm f/1.4 “Aurora”.

Sirui L-Mount Alliance

Although Leica’s L-mount is eleven years old, it has only been shared between several manufacturers for the past seven years. Initially reserved for Leica, Panasonic and Sigma, it has gradually been opened up to third-party manufacturers such as DJI, Samyang and Blackmagicdesign.

At CP+ 2025, the founding members held a conference where they hinted that newcomers would soon be joining the alliance.

On March 20, 2025, it was announced that Chinese optician Sirui would be joining the L-Mount alliance and launching its first autofocus lenses for this mount, starting with the AF 85 mm f/1.4 Aurora. Until now, Sirui had already been offering manual lenses in L-mount, but joining the alliance was a necessary step before marketing autofocus models.

We’re also expecting the forthcoming arrival of the Sirui 20 mm T1.8 1.33x S35 AF, an anamorphic lens with AF that is currently the subject of participatory funding on Indiegogo.

To date, more than 20 cameras use the L-mount, with over 100 compatible lenses. After Sirui, we now await another Chinese manufacturer, Viltrox, which, with its increasingly attractive AF lens line-up, could be a choice alternative for L-mount hybrid owners.
