Reinventing the rolling suitcase. That’s the mission of Peak Design, which introduces its Roller Pro. Featuring a spacious interior, it can hold your personal belongings—or a 400mm telephoto lens. It also boasts a carbon fiber telescopic handle and high-durability materials. The Peak Design Roller Pro is currently part of a Kickstarter campaign.

Peak Design Roller Pro: The Next-Generation Rolling Suitcase
Most rolling suitcases suffer from several flaws. Their retractable handle is often fragile and impractical. Moreover, it takes up a lot of interior space. Their storage compartments are often poorly designed. And, with few exceptions, they are not built to accommodate both photography gear and everyday essentials.

To meet the specific needs of traveling photographers, Peak Design introduces its Roller Pro suitcase. It measures 56 cm tall, 36 cm wide, and 23 cm deep—expandable to 28 cm thanks to a gusseted system.
With a capacity of 34L, it offers an interior space measuring 35 x 22 x 51 cm (expandable to 35 x 27 x 51 cm, or 36L). The front pocket can hold a laptop up to 16 inches, along with various accessories.

Three colors are available: Black, Eclipse (burgundy), and Sage.
Slim Drive Handle and Versa Shell Nylon Fabric
Peak Design emphasizes the quality of materials used. The suitcase’s structure is made from 70% recycled polycarbonate.
The “Slim Drive” handle, one of the key features highlighted by the California-based brand, is made of carbon fiber. It is designed to take up less space while offering greater resistance to twisting. The handle is made of brushed aluminum.

Price and Availability of the Peak Design Roller Pro
The Peak Design Roller Pro rolling suitcase is part of a Kickstarter campaign, open until April 18, 2025. Any contribution of $425 or more (approximately €406) will allow you to receive the suitcase at a discounted price. Once the campaign ends, the suitcase will be available for $599 (approximately €569 before taxes).
Note that a contribution of $525 (approximately €502) will allow you to receive the suitcase earlier, with delivery in May instead of August 2025.
The initial goal of $100,000 set by Peak Design was quickly surpassed, with the campaign raising over a million euros in less than an hour after its launch!
Our Initial Thoughts on the Peak Design Roller Pro
Lightweight, versatile, and well-designed, Peak Design’s new rolling suitcase checks many boxes and is likely to quickly attract many photographers for daily use or travel. We appreciate the attention to detail and the (apparent) quality of the materials used by the California-based brand, which delivers an appealing product.
However, a few questions remain. We hope, for instance, that the carbon fiber handle will be sufficiently durable. Likewise, we need to verify whether the laptop compartment at the front is well-protected. Finally, some users might regret the lack of backpack straps for carrying it like a backpack, similar to the Pgytech Roller Backpack.
Ultimately, the Peak Design Roller Pro is certainly intriguing. If the quality lives up to expectations, the brand will have another undeniable advantage to further establish itself in the luggage market.
